Marriage can be absolutely brutal.
It is beyond challenging.
You can act kind and gentle and respectful and loving with your coworkers, church friends, and the waitress at the coffee shop, and then eviscerate your spouse verbally at the slightest rude remark or potentially sarcastic question.
Fact: Marriage is hard. Many fail. Around 40-50% of first marriages tank, over 60% of second marriages and over 70% of third marriages… also fail.
Problem is few want to be humble, respectful, loving, selfless, and kind while learning how to successfully implement boundaries in a healthy way.
You really DO need a grace-filled warrior’s spirit.
Your marriage isn’t working because you both aren’t doing the things that nurture and grow it, AND YOU ARE doing the things that tear each other down and rip the marriage apart.
This is a part of the reality of marriage that you must accept or fail…
Healthy marriages have an average of 20 positives to every ONE negative.
Daily-style.
Healthy marriages have an average of 5 positives to every ONE negative DURING CONFLICT.
In 81% of the marriages that failed, the husband won’t receive influence from the wife.
So, is that him or her at fault? From what I’ve seen it is both – pretty hard to receive influence from a bossy lady treating you like they are your mom… and unfortunately, I see that way too much. Or a guy who is just too arrogant to listen to someone else … brutal.
Women who communicate directly with the same words and tone as men are perceived 37% more negatively by both men and women in the workplace.
Maybe you don’t like these numbers.
I didn’t really either.
I actually could have been the poster child for how NOT to be a wife at one time…
No more! I’m not perfect by any means, but am grateful to what God has worked in my marriage and many of the others I have worked with.
Coaching is amazing.
What are you doing to bullet-proof your marriage?
How are you growing daily in not taking offense?
Or do you want to keep sliding through ever increasing frequency of conflict while raising your kids in a toxic environment?
