Your marriage needs to change, right?
I thought I was a follower of Christ til I was struggling in my marriage, and I complained to my coach… she jerked a knot in my chain, caught me up short, literally said loudly, firmly, “ NINA! You need to DIE.”
I thought she meant the longing I had for a particular seriously REASONABLE outcome needed to be put to death, but she clarified – “You are WORSHIPPING and you need to put to death all you think you are entitled to and embrace what GOD HAS for you!”
Ooof.
She wasn’t wrong.
I didn’t like it, but I also didn’t want to be in the 90% of people who think they follow Christ and don’t actually.
I had already tried everything else, so I thought, “why not?” And gave it a go. I made a list of all the “stuff” I wanted AND included all the relational things as well. I had a funeral with that list, gave all of my heart’s desires over to God and decided to delight myself in Him alone – and sure enough, within a year, ALL the things I had written down were actually full on NOW PRESENT IN my life – but I no longer “needed” them to be okay – I had The One Who really matters, and all the rest of everything became “frosting” and just blessing.
When we lay down our lives (as if they were even ours and we haven’t already been purchased with a high price hello) for Him, and RECEIVE all that He allows and then follow Him – He changes our lives and brings about His will.
A lot of times we even get the things we were longing for as well, although that’s NOT the reason to do this.
Its astonishing.
Want to learn more? The path to fixing your marriage may not make sense at first, but I watch Him do this work daily with the people He sends our way. And it isn’t as hard as what you are likely attempting now. Look, I understand the hard of a struggling marriage – one that seemed unsolvable by counseling, intensives, therapy, etc.
But GOD.
I know you have been trying and fixing it isn’t easy, but choose your hard. What you have been doing isn’t working, so let’s do something else that can. Reach out with “I’m ready” and let’s chat a bit to see if we can help.
We do NOT employ the “crisis of the week” therapy method that usually just leaves people feeling humiliated and hopeless. We use a PROVEN PLAN. If led, let’s chat.
love to you,
Nina
