Do you have grounds for divorce?
At the risk of sounding old school and too traditional, if you are a follower of Christ, it’s a fair question.
And, there IS a REASON you may be considering divorce…
Because you have been so lonely, discouraged, sad, frustrated, hurt, and even angry … for a long time.
Hopeless even…
Holy Spirit has probably already answered your question about grounds, but you are so miserable you are still thinking about it…
Can I just encourage you for a second?
Borrow my hope.
I’ve been there, even talked to the lawyers (as did my husband) AND had literally everyone around me (and him) telling us to divorce.
Know this is because your people LOVE you and HATE to see you hurting.
THEY also don’t know how to help.
I’ve seen too many pastors, counselors, and therapists recommend divorce because they also don’t know what else to do – they may be great at helping a couple navigate the weekly conflict, but they seem to be missing the knowledge that if they don’t focus on the RIGHT INPUTS into the marriage, create a foundation of friendship and trust using the data around what actually WORKS, AND follow a proven PLAN…
We had a different outcome and maybe you can too.
We both believed God more than our pain, and He healed our marriage. (It’s not perfect, btw, but we are friends again and ever growing!)
I believe He is big enough to heal yours also. And I might be the only person in your life who thinks He can fix it.
Email me “plan” and let’s explore what could be possible for you.
Most scholars believe Jesus raised the bar on divorce – saying Moses allowed for it because our hearts were hard.
There IS a way – and no, it isn’t the “submit more” path – it’s wrong to enable sin against you, and harshness is sin. We can show you the way, and YES, you have likely tried a lot of things, you probably haven’t done THIS.
We are forming a new group to start in a few weeks and we are screening people for it. Maybe you consistently look forward to the holidays and then get exhausted from the money spent, family stress, and bills coming in. First week of January is the number one week for filing for divorce. Let’s avoid that this year!
Don’t give up till we talk.
Love to you,
Nina
