THIS is News? Seriously?
On my way out of my local grocery store this morning, I was greeted with a stack of People Magazines to purchase.
Wow. Catch the front page story?
Don’t get me wrong – I do think what they are doing is a good idea.
But for it to make the cover of People?
Men are getting married later and later, mainly because women are giving it away for free (check the data if you disagree). As women of strength and dignity, we need to encourage our daughters to make men “man up” to get what they want – it’s good for women and it’s good for the men. Let’s have a godly standard for our own behavior – it will positively influence theirs.
Contrast this with the recently aired, “Preachers Daughters” show, where one of the pastor’s daughters has decided that “freedom” comes from being a porn star.
And in the same week, we hear from Sheryl Sandberg who blames unassertive women for the lack of female executives in the upper echelons of corporate America (more on what I think about that here).
In a day and age where disrespect runs rampant in our schools, workplaces, families and churches, we need to raise the bar. Someone needs to show this world what it looks like – that someone is US. We are His ambassadors.
Let there be light.
I hope you are just as shocked as I am about what is considered “newsworthy” this week.
Dare you today to start in your corner of the world, within your sphere of influence. Learn how to speak the language of respect – and I’m formally inviting you to join us on this journey by subscribing to this blog. Next week we will talk about what’s possible, and we’ll begin with the basics.
And just so you know, I don’t monetize my blog – I make no money from your presence or “clicks” – but I do strongly believe that God has given me a message for this day and time, and I’m humbly here to share it. And I’d love to have you join me as we learn together in this safe place. So please subscribe if you haven’t. We’re going to take things up a notch next week, starting Tuesday.
Dare ya. 🙂
Love to you,
~Nina
Fantastic post. I’m so glad I found your blog! I’m 18 and in college and it can be discouraging to realize almost no one around me believes like I do: they think that sex is a normal part of ANY romantic relationship (why wait?) and/or that marriage is unnecessary or a joke. I was pleased to discover this particular post, as I just wrote one of a similar nature.
Oh! and here’s the link, if you’re interested. http://modestexaggeration.wordpress.com/2013/03/17/sex-love-marriage-hollywood/
Reblogged this on Peaceful Single Girl.
In a word where wrong seems right, we as Christians should applaud those who chose the high road. We should toughen up and not be afraid to be a light in a dark world. There are many who are seeking the truth and failing miserably because they are trying to fill a void that only Jesus can fill. We have the truth – the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is the only answer to everything in our lives.
I couldn’t agree more! 🙂
Glad you are here, Melissa!
Love to you,
~Nina
Tho I wish it wasn’t “news-worthy”, in my opinion, it’s a tabloid & their normal headlines are ones that make my stomach turn. I am happy to see a positive bold headline…maybe a few young women debating giving themselves away will stop & think. It looks like God is using this couple & I pray the women/men who need it most will take notice 🙂
I totally agree! 🙂 CRAZY that we’re here, tho, right? 😛
Love to you,
~Nina
Nina! You stepped up to the plate, swung and hit it out of the ballpark! You are so right. We can do this! We need to.
Sad to say, but I’m not shocked. This is the world surrounding us.
