When We’re Wounded…
Last night, a wounded turtle attempted to climb the steps to our lakeside cabin.
Apparently he had an encounter with a boat motor.
His shell, a chunk ripped out of the back above his back leg, bore the brunt of the injury.
My eldest son carried the turtle to the water’s edge, giving the turtle a choice of what action to take.
The turtle hustled as quickly as his little legs would take him, and plunged (slightly less than) immediately into the water.
Knowing that few predators in the Kentucky lake would harm the animal inside the water, I wondered at what caused him to leave the safety of his natural habitat and seek what he thought he needed elsewhere.
And then God spoke.
“He’s just like all of my children, including you…prone to go the wrong way…” the Small Still Voice gently reminded me.
Ouch.
Proverbs 21: 16 says, “Whoever strays from the path of prudence
comes to rest in the company of the dead.”
Double ouch.
I did a little research. The word, “prudence,” translated back to the original Hebrew language is “sakal,” which means, “wisdom.”
I just feel that I don’t need to say another thing here. Let His Word sink into you.
Dare you to read all of Proverbs 21 to hear more from Him today.
Double dog dare you to subscribe or share! 🙂
Thankful to be on the journey with you,
