Giving Away Stuff That’s Not Mine…
One of the 215 kids in vacation Bible school came up to me clutching one of the church’s Bibles yesterday.
“Can I keep this? I don’t have one at home,” his pleading eyes searched my face for the answer he hoped for.
“Of course! You keep that. Put it with your things in the back.”
Then I realized I had given away something that wasn’t mine. J So I went to the Children’s Ministry Director, and told her what I had done and offered to pay for it.
“Go cross out the name of the church stamped in the front and write his name in it so no one thinks he stole it,” she said. I did so immediately.
And then I wrote him a little note: “Read and grow!” and signed it, “Miss Nina.”
Isn’t that what He wants all of us to do? J
What was amazing to me was the joy on this child’s face when he realized that this was HIS Bible. He was so excited…
Are we?
Christ tells us that unless we “turn from our sin and become like little children,” we’ll never enter the Kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3).
What a privilege to navigate this life with the Instruction Manual – B(asic) I(nstructions) B(efore) L(eaving) E(arth).
Dare you to read Proverbs 15 today and do the same!
I’m really sorry I missed the 12th and 13th Proverbs. I hope you were able to be fed regardless. Now that Bible school is over, I will do better on the consistency end of things… J Dare you to subscribe and help hold me accountable! (there is such a thing as GOOD peer pressure!)
Thankful to be on the journey with you!
~Nina
Thanks heaps! Is it like that in the other posts, too?

What a great story, with a great point!
BTW – Technical issue. You may want to check to make sure that you’re getting the smiley faces you want, because I think that’s what’s supposed to be there, and instead we’re reading the letter “J”. 🙂
